He had never seen anything like it. The disk was black, mysterious and studded with stars like the night sky. Remembering the King's words about the disk being a window into time, he cautiously put his hand into it and felt... Well, he felt absolutely nothing. It was most unusual. His hand was completely numb. It was as if it simply wasn't there and he was very relieved to see his fingers intact when he pulled it back out again. |

| There was a blinding flash of light and then it was totally black. After a while, Qwyfyx realised that he had closed his eyes in fear. Plucking up courage, he opened them to find that he could see, immovably set in the crystal hemisphere of the night sky, the tiny pinpoints of distant stars. |

Behind him, the disk seemed to have changed. It had become the thin sickle of a new moon.
Suddenly, he was surrounded by a flock of flying books leaving trails of loose pages as they flapped by.
Among the books, as if from nowhere, there appeared countless multicoloured doors. The doors seemed to shrink and expand in size and just as Qwyfyx thought he was going to crash into one of them, it opened. |
