Whoosh!
The Rosegarden

s Yesterday, at sunset, the King was standing on his balcony, waiting to see if Qwyfyx would return. He liked it here in the evening, the light breeze was warm and filled with the scent of many blooms. The balcony overlooked the Philosopher's rose garden and from here the Monarch could see most of the western side of his kingdom. It gave him a sense of peace and calmed him after the rigours of a hard day at court. It pleased the King when he saw Miranda, the Alchemist's daughter, walk onto the terrace below.

Miranda Suddenly, just as the horizon tipped the sun, the King glimpsed the faint crescent of the old moon - and there was Qwyfyx! He came tumbling through the air, cat in one hand, bag in the other. End over end, he fell. He passed over the head of the distant Alchemist, over the sacred patch of earth and was almost singed by the eternal flame. He finally came to rest, with a splash, in the fish pond, spilling some of the glowing green powder in the process. Dropping her bouquet, Miranda ran down the steps to help him and together they went to the King.

The King was overjoyed with his presents. He too, was sure that the mysterious powder was the Philosopher's Stone. It was deemed too valuable for use, however, and was locked away in the deepest vault in the castle. Here it still lies today, gently illuminating the damp walls with its eerie radiance.

In time, Qwyfyx was appointed Court Magician. His fame became widespread when it was known that he had cast a powerful spell on the King's fish pond. In the waters of the pond, the carp took on strange shapes and their scales began to glow with the glory of gold.
